west Java

Not many people realize the importance of Java to surfing. Not only it gets the most consistent swell fronts throughout the year compared to anywhere else in Indonesia, it is also one of the most accessible areas of Indonesia boasting a multitude of travel and transport options, where in contrast most spots are rather secluded yet near to a fair sized town.

Situated in a cool niche with a specific shape, west Java features many surf spots and surf destinations that are already discovered, some even very popular like Cimaja, hometown of world-class surfer Dede Suryana, and yet there are more still uncovered, especially around the lesser accesible areas of west Java. It also has a number of spots on its offshore islands, among others, the world-known natural reserve island of Panaitan.

West Java is just one of those places that you must visit for a proper Indonesia surf stint.
